Nigerian Naval Engineering College Sapele post UTME admission screening form. The NNEC is charged with the responsibility of producing high quality engineers and technicians for the NN. NNEC has 7 training schools namely the Marine Engineering School (MES), Weapon Electrical Engineering School (WES), Basic Engineering School (BES), Mechanical Engineering School (MEES). Others include the Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence School (NBCD), which includes damage control and fire fighting training, Air Engineering School (AES) and the Computer Engineering School (CES). Currently these schools, less the NBCD School, offer courses only for NN officers and ratings, though ocassionally, personnel of civil organisations and professional institutions are trained in the College.
Admission into programmes offered in the College for now is only for serving Nigerian Navy (NN) personnel. Selection and nomination are done by the Naval Headquarters (NHQ) for officers and the Central Naval Drafting for ratings. Furthermore, a certificate screening and aptitude test is conducted for ratings nominated for ND and HND programmes before fully accepting them. Otherwise, they are recategorised to the Basic Engineering School for basic engineering training.
The entry requirement for ND courses are as follows:
a. Five credits at secondary school certificate examination or its equivalent at not more than 2 sittings. The four subjects are to include Mathematics, Physics and any other science subject with at least a pass in English Language.
b. The National Technical Certificate in mechanical trade with credit in Mathematics, Physics, one other subject, and a pass in English Language.
c. Five credits in an NBTE recognised preliminary ND course offered in a polytechnic or similar post-secondary technical institution. The credit must include Mathematics, Physics, any 2 science subject, and at least a pass in English Language.
Basic Engineering School (BES)
Basic Engineering School is one of the 7 schools run at the Nigerian Naval Engineering College, primarily responsible for the inculcation of the basic fundamental principles of engineering subjects to the trainees.
Marine Engineering School (MES)
The Marine Engineering School was established in 1982 for the purpose of training Naval Technicians and Engineers to meet the technical needs of the Nigerian Navy and for the development of the nation’s maritime industry.
Weapon Electrical Engineering School (WEES)
The Weapon Electrical Engineering School is one of the 7 Schools in the College tasked with the responsibility of training officers, artificers and mechanics to meet the Weapon Engineering Department maintenance requirements of NN fleet.
Mechanical Engineering School (MEES)
The Mechanical Engineering School was established to cater for the training of skilled, qualified and competent technicians in the Nigerian Navy and for the technological development of the nation.
Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence School (NBCDS)
The Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence and Damage Control School is one of the schools in the college set up to meet the ever increasing skilled technical manpower needs of the NN.
Computer Engineering School (CES)
The Computer Engineering School was set up basically to train the staff and students of the College on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
